3. Will technology be a threat to schools in years to come?
I had some of the very same questions. Its crazy to think how quickly things are changing in the field of teaching.
ReplyDeleteBraiden,
ReplyDeleteI was wondering some of the same questions that you were. Schools are already hurting for funds, so I would think that adding more technology would make this worse.
With what we learned in class last week, I think the new technology will be a good thing and should be hard to keep up with. Regarding funds, there are many grants that schools can apply for. Here at Booker Elementary, they applied for a grant to get all the fifth graders one-on-one devices, and they ended up giving them more that they will be able to get devices for third, fourth and fifth grade!
ReplyDeleteI often have the same thought about schools being able to fund the technology being implemented into learning today. And what happens to the schools that can not. This is one of the main reasons I choose the educational app plickers, because even in a school that is not properly funded, these kids will still have some sort of chance to know the world of technology. In low funded school, these students are going to be on the lower spectrum of educational technology knowledge. On the opposite spectrum, in a school heavily funded, which is usually in an area that most students actually own most of the technology themselves, this would be an instance that some of the students will most defiantly be more knowledgeable then the teacher. I think we as teachers need to keep an open mind about students and the different lives they live. We need to be vigilant in the type of homework we send home. Not all children will have the same access to technology. We have to do whats best for every child in our classroom.
ReplyDeleteLove your questions, Braiden! How will our class look like 15 years from now--I do think we expedite this evolution due to this pandemic.... and will teachers have enough experiences to catch up?
