Technology Is What You Make of It
There many different views when it comes to technology. I for one, am all for it, if it is used correctly. Technology continues to grow and improve daily. Technology brings a whole different perspective on life for the good and the bad. It all depends on how you choose to use it.
When it comes to education, technology has taken a huge leap. I feel like every year, teachers are trying out different types of technology to help kids learn better. I believe technology has made it easier to learn and communicate. I am a hands on learner, so when it comes to smartboards, computers, and etc., I learn more information. This pandemic we are currently in is a great example of how great technology is. It allows us to continue our education while staying safe.
Technology isn’t always useful to some. In today’s world, I feel like video games are a huge problem. Kids today are not getting the exercise they need daily. They sit in their rooms all day starring at a screen. I remember when I was a kid, I was always riding my bike to see if one of my friends was home so we could go play at the park. Nowadays, kids just pick up their phone and call to see what each other are doing. Like one of the videos I watched talk about, kids are almost becoming disconnected from their families. One kid said he forgets about his parents and siblings because he is so into his video game.
In conclusion, technology is what you make of it. If you choose to use it correctly in a way that benefits you and others, I am all for it.
This was very nicely wrote. I really agree that in education technology has really played a great role in enhances our students learning. Smart boards are just one way that it has been enhances. They have allowed teachers to get rid of so much stuff and combined them into one thing. I also think that it has been great because teachers can now reach out to one another easier and find additional teaching resources to make the students learning better. I think that technology can be beneficial when used correctly.
ReplyDeleteThis was written very well. I agree that technology is what one makes of it. I do love to see it in classrooms though, for educational purposes, like you said, we can still learn during this pandemic without having to risk getting sick or getting other people sick. It really amazes me just how far I have come, because if this pandemic would have happened while I was still in high school, I think I would be in a panic. I had to buy my own laptop, because my mom is a single mom who raised 4 kids, so money was stretched thin. And many times I would have to go to my work, on my days off, to use their WiFi for my classes. With that being said, I do not let my computer or phone consume me or my whole day, I see that with my 4 year old nephew and it kind of makes me angry how he acts when he cannot have his iPad.
ReplyDeleteYes, technology should be used only if it is being used correctly. It has improved our daily lives so much. Being in a classroom, there is now so much more technology being used than what I remember when I was in grade school. Teachers have so many resources. Children, on the other hand, should not be using technology for complete entertainment. Instead, they should be playing outside. I remember when I was young I would always play outside. I loved making mud cakes. That is one thing that I know my daughter hasn’t ever done. I limit her on her iPad, but she still spends too much time on it than I would like her to.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you completely. It is up to an adult to limit the amount of technology a child uses. They need to be the ones setting boundaries and examples of healthy ways to implement technology into their daily lives. If kids are "hooked" on using these devices I believe it is the adults fault! I also agree that technology has helped in the classroom. I am a firm believer that a child needs real affection, attention, and hands on learning, but there are so many advantages to the resources teachers have at the tips of their fingers.
ReplyDeleteTechnology certainly has helped improve education. Without technology we wouldn't have classes that are connected with students in classes across the globe to see how they learn the same lessons that students here are learning. It is a great way to see other outlooks and perspectives. I do believe that some technological advances are not that great and some are. It all depends upon the device and what it is used for.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your reflection, Braiden! Technology has changed our lives in more ways than we realize. Everything from our interaction with friends and family, our medicines, our education, even down to our everyday transportation all revolve around technology. Now, many of these things have made life easier and more pleasing. We can now talk to our family and friends, who live across the country or even the world, within the push of a button; there is no waiting weeks at a time for a letter. Also, our medicine has advanced greatly. Whle there are so many wonderful achievements, the main victim of technology has been raw human interaction--video games pose a lot problems and like you mention--do you play sports or go outside once many games are invented online?!
